HP EliteBook 840 G8 Performance —
i7-1145G7 · Iris Xe 80EU · 16GB · 512GB · Touchscreen — Elite Business at Ksh 49,999
Verified HP specifications. The EliteBook 840 G8 delivers 11th Gen Intel's best iGPU — Iris Xe with 80 execution units — alongside 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and a 14" touchscreen in HP's flagship business chassis. Browse all HP EliteBook models.
The Core i7-1145G7 is Intel's top Tiger Lake U-series processor — the same chip found in premium ultrabooks from Dell, Lenovo, and HP at significantly higher new prices. 4.40GHz single-core boost makes single-threaded tasks — Office, browser, email, Zoom — feel instantly responsive. 4 cores and 8 threads handle professional multitasking efficiently on 16GB RAM. The 11th Gen Tiger Lake architecture brings a generational jump over 10th Gen Comet Lake in both CPU and GPU performance — and Iris Xe is the most visible improvement.
Iris Xe with 80 execution units is approximately 50–70% faster than Intel UHD 620/630 found in 8th/10th Gen machines — a meaningful real-world difference for Kenyan professionals. Light video editing in DaVinci Resolve and Premiere is smoother. Lightroom photo editing applies adjustments faster. Figma and Illustrator handle large, complex files without lag. 4K video playback is smooth. Zoom virtual backgrounds run without CPU overhead. At Ksh 49,999, Iris Xe 80EU is the strongest integrated GPU available in this price range — only the Dell Latitude 5520 at Ksh 58,000 offers Iris Xe 96EU (the step up).
14" FHD Touchscreen + 16GB + 512GB — The Fully Loaded Configuration
The EliteBook 840 G8 at Ksh 49,999 arrives with no compromises on the core spec: 16GB RAM handles heavy multitasking, large spreadsheets, and running multiple professional tools simultaneously without slowdown. 512GB SSD stores a full working environment — projects, files, software — without the constant juggle of external drives. The 14" FHD touchscreen adds finger navigation and PDF annotation to HP's already excellent keyboard. For Kenyan professionals who want a complete, high-spec certified business laptop at Ksh 49,999 without planning upgrades — the 840 G8 delivers all of it out of the box.

HP EliteBook 840 G8 Kenya
Common questions from Kenyan buyers about the HP EliteBook 840 G8.
-
The HP EliteBook 840 G8 with Core i7-1145G7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 14" FHD touchscreen, Intel Iris Xe, and Windows 11 Pro is available at Ksh 49,999 at Tech Convenience Store, Nairobi CBD. WhatsApp 0714 722 264 to confirm stock. We deliver countrywide across all 47 counties.
-
Yes — Intel Iris Xe is a significant upgrade. Iris Xe (80EU in the 840 G8) has 80 execution units versus 24 in Intel UHD 620 and 32 in UHD 630. In practical terms, Iris Xe is approximately 50–70% faster for GPU-accelerated tasks: video playback (4K H.265 smooth vs stuttering on UHD), Lightroom adjustments (faster preview rendering), Figma and Illustrator on large files (less lag), DaVinci Resolve light editing (usable vs slow), and Zoom virtual backgrounds (no CPU overhead). For everyday Office and browser use, the difference is smaller — but for any creative or visual professional work, Iris Xe makes a noticeable daily difference.
-
Choose the HP EliteBook 840 G8 (Ksh 49,999) if: you need a touchscreen (the X1 Carbon has none), want 512GB storage at a lower price, or prefer HP's keyboard and chassis. Also Ksh 2,500 less. Choose the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 (Ksh 52,500) if: the ThinkPad keyboard is important for all-day typing, you prefer the lighter 1.13kg chassis, or the i7-1185G7 with Iris Xe 96EU GPU matters for your creative work. Both have 16GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro, and Thunderbolt 4. WhatsApp 0714 722 264 to discuss which fits your workflow.
-
Thunderbolt 4 on the HP EliteBook 840 G8 means each USB-C port supports: 40Gbps data transfer — fast external SSD backups at Luthuli Avenue. 4K display output — connect an external monitor via USB-C to HDMI or USB-C cable. 100W charging — charge from any USB-C charger including phone chargers (slower) or the included 65W adapter. Daisy-chaining — connect a TB4 hub (Ksh 4,000–8,000) and get USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet, and SD card from a single cable. Two ports on the left side gives flexibility for cable routing at a desk or in a meeting room.
-
For light to moderate video editing — yes. Iris Xe 80EU handles 1080p timelines in DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere smoothly. 4K H.264 and H.265 playback is smooth. Export times for a 5–10 minute 1080p video are reasonable. 16GB RAM keeps the editor, browser, and source files open simultaneously. 512GB stores several active projects. For heavy professional video production — longer timelines, colour grading in 4K, heavy VFX — a machine with a dedicated GPU (NVIDIA or AMD) is better suited. For YouTube content, social media, and commercial video at 1080p, the 840 G8 handles it comfortably.
